Executive Summary

DiscAbilities is dedicated to the application of flying disc sports and activities as therapeutic recreation for people of all ages and physical abilities.

During the past 35 years, we have developed programs that offer “accessible” therapeutic fun for school-age children and people with special needs. We provide a platform that enhances physical and social development for “at-risk youth” and people with disabilities of many types and degrees. Our programs enhance coordination, dexterity and teach competitive cooperation as well as other essential social skills.

We want to expand existing programs and the develop new ones. DiscAbilities will use funds to make more programs available to “at-risk” youth and “special needs” populations. We continue to provide workshops in Hunter College’s “Project HAPPY”, and “SNACK*”, Special Needs Activity Center for Kids (with autism). These recreational therapy programs focus on social interaction and recreation.
